Nestled between the Mountains of
Rocky Mountain National Park and the Arapaho National Forest, Winter Park
and Fraser offer a wide range of high-altitude activities – all summer and
all winter. Even the continental divide is just a moderate (albeit
up-hill) mountain bike ride from Winter Park & Fraser.
Besides renowned mountain biking
on some of the finest single-track in the country and first-rate downhill
skiing at one of the snowiest resorts in the state (averaging 369 inches
of snow a year). This area also has other great things to do including:
-
Rafting – Wherever the
water is running, be it the Colorado River, Clear Creek or somewhere
else, the local rafting guides and outfitters will take you when you
want to go. Click here for a list of some of the rafting companies
available in Grand County:

-
Bicycling – Can’t say
enough about it – the “King of the Rockies” Bike Race is even bad
enough for Lance Armstrong to drop by. With over 600 miles of
mapped trails in the Winter Park area (and a bunch more -- if you can sweet-talk a local into
showing you), you'll get your heart pounding and your adrenaline
flowing -- and keep it that way the whole time you're here.
-
Skiing/Snowboarding
– Consistently voted “Colorado’s Favorite Ski Resort”, The Winter Park
Ski resort is in a league of it’s own, and we’re also a short drive to
the ripping back-country of Berthoud Pass, and the Family-oriented Sol
Vista Ski resorts. Check out these areas at the following links: Sol Vista Ski Resort:

-
Sight-seeing – We are
right at the footsteps of the Arapaho National Forest, the Rocky
Mountain National Forest and the Indian Peaks Wilderness area. Take
your pick, you won’t run out of forest. You can find information
about Rocky Mountain National Park by clicking here:

-
Lake
Sports – We are only a few miles away from Williams Fork
Reservoir, Willow creek reservoir, Monarch lake, Meadow Creek Lake,
Granby Reservoir, Shadow Mountain Reservoir, and Grand Lake. You can
fish, windsurf, sail, water-ski, or just have a picnic at some of the
highest lakes in the country. For more information, check out:

-
Miscellaneous – The base
of Winter Park Resort has a rock-climbing wall, miniature golf, and
the country’s longest alpine slide. There’s also horse-back riding,
kayaking, tennis, jeep tours, hot-air balloon rides (www.grandadventureballoon.com),
hot-springs, dog sledding (www.dogsledrides.com/winterpark)
and snowmobiling (www.columbine.com/tbtinfo.htm,
and www.grandadventures.com)
in case you’re still looking for something to do. For general
